Today we welcome Christina, a new mom, our guest blogger, and Nuna lover. She is highlighting one of her (and our favorite brands) Nuna and its innovative suite of products
Before becoming a new mom, I had the time to diligently research EVERY baby item. I wouldn’t even buy a sleep sack without looking at all my options. Above all, finding a car seat and stroller to fit my needs were my biggest concerns. I searched high and low. Aside for the obvious safety requirements, I wanted a car seat that was lightweight, easy to install and could effortlessly attach to a stroller. The stroller that I was in search for also had to be lightweight, along with having all-terrain wheels and easy to travel with. Oh, and both the car seat and stroller had to be sleek and modern. Let’s face it, the stroller becomes an everyday accessory and you need to love it.
One of the brands that really caught my eye was Nuna. I liked that their products didn’t look like huge, giant, colorful, obnoxious in-your-face baby items. I could even see their baby items for the home placed neatly in my minimalist, always staged house. I quickly researched this company and was pleased to find there was exceptional quality behind this beautiful, sleek, modern baby brand. This is where my love affair with Nuna products began. I have the Nuna Pipa car seat, Nuna Mixx stroller and the Nuna Sena playard.
Nuna Pipa Car Seat
I am so happy I found the Nuna Pipa. After having an emergency c-section, every extra pound I carry counts. The Nuna Pipa is super-lightweight and very easy to get into and out of the car. I never have had an issue carrying the car seat with my baby up and down the stairs of my house and in and out of my garage. The Nuna Pipa is packed with impressive safety features that set it in a class of its own. It is one of the only brands with a stability leg that adds additional security for the car seat. I absolutely LOVE the dream drape, a generously sized UPF 50+ canopy that covers the car seat while protecting my baby’s sensitive skin from the sun and keeping it nice and dark for her to catch some much needed sleep.
I bought an additional base for my husband’s car. However, one of the best features of this car seat is that it can be installed without the base by just using a car seat belt. This is a major plus for when you need to travel with a baby. In fact, we took our first family trip to Hawaii and had no problems using the Nuna Pipa in our rental car. Traveling with the Nuna Pipa car seat is a breeze, especially when using it with the Nuna Mixx stroller. With all the safety features and sleek design, the Pipa car seat is a no-brainer. I highly recommend this to any mom looking for an infant car seat.
Nuna Mixx Stroller
The Nuna Mixx is very lightweight and extremely easy to travel with. We took our stroller with us to Hawaii and checked it right at the gate with no problem. It has a super easy compact fold and can be rolled while folded. The Nuna Mixx stroller works perfectly with the Pipa.
The stroller comes with adapters for the car seat. However, Nuna has a ring adapter that makes installing the car seat just a touch easier. You definitely do not need to pay extra for the ring adapter, as the adapters that already come with the Nuna Mixx work great. The stroller seat reclines pretty far back with a very slight incline. This slight incline was very useful for my baby in her first few months when she was battling reflux. During our late afternoon strolls around the neighborhood, I often found her sound asleep in her Nuna Mixx in those early months. The UPF 50+ canopy is generously sized and can be easily adjusted to cover the entire seat when strolling on sunny days or when your baby wants to sleep.
The seat can be placed rear or forward facing as well. The all-terrain tires are a dream. I am a fast walker and need tires that can keep up with my pace. These tires have never let me down. My only complaint with the Nuna Mixx is that it needs to have more accessories. I know once we have baby #2, I’ll need a stand attachment. Or better yet, Nuna needs to make tandem double stroller version of the Nuna Mixx!
Nuna Sena
The Nuna Sena is often used as a playard or a travel crib. I decided against buying a bassinet and used the Nuna Sena as my baby’s first crib. What I love about the Nuna Sena is the all around see-through mesh fabric. We placed the Nuna Sena right next to our platform bed, which allowed us to easily see our baby. It was nice to feel the closeness of her without actually having her in bed with us. The mattress can be placed in two positions, the higher one being ideal for a newborn.
The Nuna Sena has an easy compact fold, making it great for travel. I love that it can be used as a bassinet for a newborn, a playard for a toddler and a travel crib. With so many baby items out there, it’s nice to have one that can grow with your baby. The best part of the Nuna Sena is that it is sleek and modern. It’s a baby item that doesn’t actually scream baby. We have babies that do that for us. We don’t need products that do that too. Nuna for the win!
